Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about Causa Prima — what it is, what it does today, and who is behind it.

What is Causa Prima?

Causa Prima is the agentic execution layer for the office of the CFO — the first agent-to-agent platform for both sides of every B2B transaction. Its AI agents automate accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash management, and negotiate directly with the agents on the other side of each transaction.

What does Causa Prima do today?

The first release automates AP and AR dispute resolution, early-payment discount negotiation, real-time cash balances and probabilistic cash forecasting, plus a magic-link counterparty view — all with a human in the loop on external actions.

Who founded Causa Prima?

Causa Prima was co-founded by Maex (Markus) Ament (CEO, previously co-founded Taulia), Henrik Gebbing (COO, previously co-founded Finoa) and Philip Stanislaus (CTO, co-founder of Oak Security).

Is Causa Prima related to Taulia?

Causa Prima is a new, independent company. Its CEO, Maex Ament, previously co-founded Taulia, which was acquired by SAP. Causa Prima is not affiliated with Taulia or SAP.

How is Causa Prima different from an AP/AR tool or an AI-native ERP?

AP/AR tools and ERPs each sit inside one company. Causa Prima is an execution layer that acts across company boundaries — an agent on both the buyer and supplier side — and is complementary to, not a replacement for, the system of record.

Is Causa Prima free? How does it make money?

The software and agents are free to use. Causa Prima earns only when it helps move money on better terms.

Where is Causa Prima based?

Causa Prima, Inc. is incorporated in Delaware (2026), with hubs in Madrid (primary) and Munich (engineering).

Isn’t this just another AP/AR tool?

No. AP/AR tools digitize paperwork; Causa Prima eliminates the work and acts across the boundary between two companies, where single-sided tools have no authority. The tool is the agent, and the network is the moat.

How is Causa Prima different from an AI-native ERP?

An ERP — even an AI-native one — is the system of record inside one company. Causa Prima is an execution layer that acts across systems and across company borders. It is complementary, not competitive: it plugs into the ERP rather than replacing it.

What about established B2B networks?

Established networks largely move documents (EDI and file exchange). They do not carry agent capability, a shared context graph, or autonomous negotiation. Causa Prima integrates with that kind of infrastructure rather than competing with it.

What happens if an agent makes a wrong payment?

In the first version, agents advise and humans act — nothing external happens without approval. As autonomy grows, every action stays bounded by a hard policy envelope: per-transaction limits, daily caps, counterparty whitelists, and mandatory approvals. LLMs inform; rules enforce.
